The N.C. House Environment Committee passed a bill this morning that would clear the way to legalized fracking of shale gas in this state.
The fast-moving bill is headed for approval by the full state House and Senate later today, said Rep. Mitch Gillespie, a Republican representing Burke and McDowell counties who is shepherding the legislation in the House.
